I before E except after C

What about ‘ancient’, ‘being’, ‘counterfeit’, ‘deicide’, ‘eight’. Coming from someone one whom is very likely to spell cat with a ‘K’, this rule always bothered me.

Rule should probably be written as ‘I before E except after C or Infections or Suffixes or Word endings or silent ‘G’s or Proper names or Prefixes or Chemical names or loanwords from another language or Scottish English.
